Why teach at Noble Street?
As a teacher, I was looking for a high school that provided its students with a safe, yet challenging, environment. Noble Street is that and so much more. It is a place where students feel welcome when they enter the building, take pride in their school, and respect each other and themselves. Noble Street provides an environment of high expectations paired with strong support. I am truly thankful to be a part of such a special school!

What is your favorite book and why?
One of my favorite books is The Razor’s Edge by W. Somerset Maugham. It is an unusual story about an unlikely heroic figure, Larry, attempting to discover meaning in a seemingly meaningless world. I will always value this story as a clear affirmation of personal choice and freedom. I use The Razor’s Edge to remind myself that the choices we make define us. Larry’s attempt to find value in life through pursuit of knowledge and peace is, to me, the essence of heroism.

Why Do I Teach?:
Few people are able to impact the life of a young person as much as a teacher.  Students rely on a teacher to be everything from a mentor to a coach, from an educator to a listening ear.  While this task can be both daunting and frustrating, there is no more gratifying experience than when a student comes returns years after they have left your class to thank you for the knowledge and guidance you have given them.

College Experience:
Boston College provided me with countless opportunities to grow both intellectually and culturally.  While exploring the depths of the sciences, I discovered my passion for understanding living systems and geological phenomena.  Aside from the excellent opportunity to cheer for the best sports teams in the country (i.e. the New England Patriots and the Boston College Eagles), college gave me the chance to see parts of the world I never would have experienced otherwise.  I spent most of my junior year studying in Australia and was able to immerse myself in a world very different from my own.  Given the opportunity to hold a koala in my arms and stare a crocodile straight in the eyes fueled my desire to study all forms of life.  Not only did my college experience open many new doors, it also gave me the confidence and skills needed to step through them.

Why do I teach?
My education has been a key factor in my success to date in my career and in my life.  I would like to offer to Noble Street students the same opportunities that were made available to me through education.  I am also interested in acting as a role model, personal coach, and inspiration to my students to seek to achieve all they can.

Interesting Facts:
During my adolescent years I was a great student but wanted very much to be a recognized athlete.  I was the worst player on my junior high basketball team, and when we joined with another junior high at our high school, I barely made the junior varsity team.  Through a lot of year-around hard work, relentless perseverance, and a growth spurt I became the only student from my junior high team to eventually become a starter on the varsity team.  During college, as part of my undergraduate thesis, I designed and built some of the first aluminum bicycle frames, which are very popular today.  I also designed, built and tested a one-man submarine made out of cement!
